In Europe, France had a very bad week with 55,625 new infections (14%) of all infections recorded so far. That said their infection rate is just 0.62%. Spain had 67,337 new infections this past week. Spain's infection rate is 1.21% the highest in Western Europe.
Countries that I follow recording more than 10% of all infections this past week: France (14%), India (13%), Spain (12%), Greece (13%), Argentina (14%).
The U.S. rate of infection fell from 39,407 per day to 34,500 per day. The infection rate is 1.98%.
States recording more than 10% of all infections the past week: North Dakota (12%). Last week 8 states were over 10%.
States at 7 to 9 percent of all infections happening in the past week: Missouri (9%), Wisconsin (9%), Oklahoma (8%) Arkansas (8%), West Virginia (9%), Hawaii (8%), Alaska (8%) Wyoming (8%). Kentucky (8%).
Joining Louisiana and Florida in the 3% club (meaning 3% of their population has been infected) is Mississippi
States with a higher than 2%-3% infection rate are Texas, New York, Illinois, Georgia, New Jersey, Arizona, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Iowa, Nevada, Arkansas, Rhode Island, and North Dakota.
Alaska has the best death rate at 0.70%. Utah is 0.75%.
The crazy folks at the University of Washington project 300,000 total U.S. deaths by December 1, 2020. That would mean 106,000 deaths in the next 10 weeks. To reach that we would need to average 1,400 deaths per day for the next 70 days. Last week we averaged 744 deaths per day. While that is theoretically reachable, I doubt the count will be over 250,000.
Dr. Fauci, director of Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health said the U.S. could reach 100,000 new cases per day before the end of the year. Theoretically, yes, but again, I think he likes to try and scare people, more than make rational predictions. The highest number so far is around 60,000 per day.
