The weekly seven day average of new cases of Covid-19 in Utah
The number of infections has dropped steadily since late July, this is an encouraging setup going into the fall and winter.
The weekly seven day average of Covid-19 deaths in Utah.
The death rate in Utah remains between 1 and 3 per day. There was a major update of backlogged deaths the week of August 4, 2022.

Looking at the data going forward we must acknowledge that many tests are not reported by those who perform the tests at home. That said, the doward trend since late July looks very nice.
*** Focus on the United States ***
Again I analyzed the United States by individual state.
The five states with the highest infection rates for the full pandemic are:

| Kentucky | 35.3% |
| North Dakota | 34.7% |
| Tennessee | 33.9% |
The top five remained the same, however Alaska took the number 1 spot back from Rhode Island. Kentucky took thiud place from North Dakota
Utah dropped to 10th place from 7th place on this list at 31.8%
The five states with the lowest infection rate for the full pandemic are:

Maryland and Oregon remained first and second. Hawaii dropped from 3rd to 7th. Allowing Washington to move into the list.

The only repeat candidate on this list was Idaho. Interesting how the first three are in upper New England and the last two are just west of the rocky mountains.

Pennsylvinia remained on top. Oklahoma and Mississippi swapped positions, and New Mexico replaced Nevada on this list.

Alaska retained the top Hawaii jumped over Utah. Utah's rate has been solid at 0.48%. There is a significant gap between fourth and fifth place.

Oklahoma jumped from fourth place to first. Kansas and New mexico swapped second and fourth places. Oregon, New Hampshire and Florida were new to this list.

All of the states on this list are new. Utah dropped from third place to sixth place. Maine's rate was exceptionally low.
*** Focus on the World ***
In Asia things are tough in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Otherwise, things look good. In Europe infections are elevated in Greece, Germany, France, and Italy. The infection rate in the U.S. is hiher than most other countries. Australia just coming out of winter has a very high infection rate at 11%.
