***SARS-Cov-2 - Pandemic***
*** Focus on Utah ***
The infection rate climbed steadily from Early October through Thanksgiving. Since that time it has fallen by 50%. We don't know the impact that home testing has on these numbers.

The death rate in Utah remains between 1 and 3 per day, averaging around 1.75 deaths per day.

*** Focus on the United States ***

Again I analyzed the United States by individual state.

The five states with the highest infection rates for the full pandemic are:

Alaska 41.2%
Rhode Island 40.4%
Kentucky 37.0%
North Dakota 36.0%
Tennessee 35.2%

The top five remained the same. 41.2 percent of all Alaskan's have had Covid-19.

Utah dropped from 10th to 12th place on this list at 32.9%

The five states with the lowest infection rate for the full pandemic are:

Oregon 22.2%
Maine 22.5%
Vermont 23.1%
Washington 24.4%

This list also did not change. Washington was hard hit at the beginning of the pandemic, but has done a terrific job dealing with it.

The five states with the highest infection rates during the last 3 months are:

New Jersey 1.9%
New Mexico 1.9%
Kentucky 1.7%
Illinois 1.6%

Every state on this list is new to the list. It is interesting that New York and New Jersey top this list. My brother-in-law visited New York City in mid-December 2022 and returned home with Covid-19. The rest of the list seems random, however New York is the 4th most populous, Illinois 6th and New Jersey 12th.

The five states with the lowest infection rates for the last 5 weeks are:

The only repeat candidate on this list was Idaho. Utah dropped out of the list to 19th place with 1.06%

States with the highest death rates (full pandemic) are:

Michigan 1.36%

Pennsylvinia remained on top. Oklahoma and Mississippi swapped positions for a second time, Georgia took fourth place.

Hawaii took the top spot from Alaska who tied with Utah. Utah's rate has been solid at 0.48% for many weeks now. There is a significant gap between fourth and fifth place.

These death rates are much higher than for the July to October period. All states on this list a new to the list. Delaware was the best for the July-Octobe period, now the worst.

Texas moved from last to first place. Kansas and Utah are new to the list while New Jersey dropped from third to fourth.

*** Focus on the World ***

China's data is clearly bogus. Having set aside there "zero Covid" policy there reported infections and deaths are totally unrealistic. Japan, South Korea and Taiwan are still struggling with high infection rates, but the reported death rates in Asia are much lower than the United States with the exception of the Philippines and Thailand.
