*** Focus on Utah ***

The infection rate dropped again from 316 per day to 273 per day, continuing to fall as vaccination grows. On the other had the number of deaths continues at a high level. Thirty-two deaths the past week versus thirty-four the prior week.

On the vaccination side, the total number fully vaccinated in Utah reached 1,170,853. That number includes an unknown number of 12-17 year-olds. Not having a better number to work with I use that number and compare it to an estimate of the number of Utahns 18+. Using these values the fully vaccinated number of adults is 51.8%, which is overstated by an unknown amount.

Finally the state did reduced the number of doses coming in and the count of doses on hand dropped a bit to 537,372.

*** Focus on the United States ****
The infection rate dropped again from 31,416 per day to 26,781 per day. Deaths were actually up a bit from 573 per day to 597 per day.
*** Focus on the rest of the World ***

Things in Asia are not well. In India there were 1.8 million new infections down a bit from the prior week.

Japan seems to be experiencing the worst of the pandemic. Their total infections is only 680,000, but the count in recent weeks has been elevated. There were 40,052 last week higher than the 33.049 the prior week. This is why some in Japan are concerned about hosting the Olympics in July.

While the numbers are small the new infections in Viet Nam and Taiwan are near historic highs.

In Thailand the number of infections increased to 28,053 up about 11,000 from the prior week. Deaths for the week were 187.
