June 22, 2008 - Michael reports on his mission experiences
Elder Haslam reported on his mission experiences on June 22, 2008. First at the Sandy Utah Midvalley Stake PEC meeting at 6:30 A.M. Michael spoke about sharing the gospel with Sister Ward in his first area of Vacaville, California and how she soon shred it with her sister who visited from England. Later at the sacrament meeting of the Midvalley 5th Ward he reported along with his friend Jeff Johnson (they both left the same day and came home on nearly the same day). Elder Johnson served in the Arcadia California Mission (Southern California). Elder Haslam spoke of sharing the gospel with Sister Thompson (the first lesson) and then later baptizing her just a couple of weeks before his return. His main message was that the gospel challenges us to do more than "know something", it challenges us to "become something", which we can do if we follow Jesus Christ and accept his atonement.

June 02, 2008 - "Almost There" - Regarding their contacts Elder Haslam wrote, "Sister Holsteing is reading but she got scared and didn't come to church. We'll try and iron that out this week. She does work on some Sundays though so we'll see if she can come for my farewell testimony next week. Yeah, the whole ward pretty much knows now. They let it out in the ward council meeting yesterday. That's OK, it will give people preparation time to see me go. Sister Cluver is not willing to come to church still. Sister Heath moved our appointment to this coming week. We got someone new though. Sister Barbara Arellano. I tracted into her twice now. The first time I gave it to the Spanish missionaries. They dropped the ball and this time we had a great lesson with a member that lives nearby. Hopefully we can get them to be better friends and she'll come out to church".
One missionary asked Michael, "Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel"? Michael replied, "No it is more like a door to me, and I won't see the light until I get there and open the door".
Michael reported, "I have been sick for the last 3 days but unwilling to rest. I still went to work but I wasn't feeling good yesterday so I got a blessing and now I'm doing great. I'm ready to sprint to the end. I know you're just dying to see me! Well you should be; I've been gone for almost 2 years! I can't wait to see you too but the race is not over yet. I've still got one more week of door knocking before they pry the badge off my shirt. I'm going to be sad to take it off that's for sure".
